Construction Journal Entry Week of 10/24/04

10/26-27/04 I went up to the property for 2 days: Tuesday and Wednesday.

This was a short week because of Ellen's surgery on Thursday. I bought a gallon of RV antifreeze at Doug's RV on the way up. I was a little disappointed on the way up that I had missed the peak of the Fall colors in the mountains but there will be more Falls. I arrived at 1:40. As I drove into the driveway I saw a grouse on the driveway about 50 feet in front of me. I stopped the pickup and the grouse just stood there. I dug the camera out of my luggage and took a picture through the windshield. Then I got out of the pickup and the grouse still didn't move much. I took another picture and then started walking closer to it. It just ambled off into the bushes and I didn't see it after that.

After moving in, I went up to the drainfield to look at some trees and on the way back to the cabin I saw Larry walking up. He brought me some more mail so maybe I should put up a mailbox. I'll have to think about that. We went in so he could see what I had done and we had a nice chat.

After he left, I sanded the logs and window frames between Grid B3 and D3 to get them ready for the final coat of varnish. Then I vacuumed the wall and the floor and quit for the night.

On Wednesday morning, I varnished the last coat so everything is done between A3 and D3. It looks really nice to me. After that, I had lunch, took the screens off the windows in the trailer, and I winterized the trailer. I fed a flock of 5 jays off and on during the day. I left for home at 3:00.

On Friday, I did some more work on the wiring design. I gave up on using Access and went back to using Quattro Pro. Something about old dogs and new tricks.
