Construction Journal Entry Week of 2/19/17

2/19-20/17 I spent Sunday and Monday at the cabin with Ellen.

I was already up at Camp Serendipity Sunday morning and after the scouts left I planned to go to Leavenworth to meet Ellen. She was coming up for the night and to do some snowshoeing.

She called me before the scouts left at around 9:30 and told me that she had missed the bus and was going to take a train late in the afternoon. I was to meet her in Leavenworth at 8:30.

I had another relaxing day in the cabin, doing some writing, working on the puzzle, splitting firewood, and other fun things. Ellen called and told me she was eating on the train so I fixed myself some dinner and then left for Leavenworth at about 7:00. I had never been to the train station in Leavenworth so I left myself plenty of time to find it in the dark.

I got to the depot early and watched YouTube videos while I waited. The train showed up with Ellen at about 8:30 and we drove straight to Camp Serendipity through a mild snowstorm.

I lit a fire in the stove as soon as we moved in and we had a nice, cozy relaxed evening.

On Monday morning, after a nice sleep, we got up, built another fire, and had our breakfast. Then we packed up and left to do some snowshoeing at Lake Wenatchee State Park on the south side this time. It was our first time on that trail and we liked it much better than the one on the north side. The trail is 1.8 miles long and very interesting with lots of nice views. The snow conditions were excellent and in spite of it being a holiday, we didn't see any other people on the trail. There was only one other vehicle in the parking lot when we left. A lot of people had showed up by the time we finished so we had a nice advantage of staying in the cabin that is so close.

From there we drove to the Squirrel Tree and had Reuben sandwiches for lunch. The food is really good there now with the new ownership so they will be giving the 59'er Diner a run for their money when it is finally re-built.

After lunch, we drove to Marilyn's and George's and had a nice visit. Then we headed home and fortunately got ahead of the thick holiday traffic. We went speed limit almost all the way. It was an excellent holiday weekend.
