2/8-12/21 I went up to camp serendipity for five days: Monday through Friday.

There was a little rain on the way, but there was snow in the pass. There was almost no traffic eastbound which made it nice. I arrived at noon and there had been about one inch of new snow. The driveway had not been plowed, but I had no trouble backing in. The stairs were clear, and the trails were firm. I brought my gear up in one trip, hoisted the flag, built a fire, and had my lunch and my nap.

When I got up, I practiced the piano and then split some firewood. Then I went to the woodshed and dragged one round down with a rope. Then I realized that the trail was firm enough to use a wheelbarrow. I took the wheelbarrow to the woodshed and wheeled down six more rounds in one load. Then I did a little more planning on my woodcarving project.

On Tuesday it was 18 degrees when I got up, and it only got up to 25 degrees during the day. In the morning I practiced the piano, listened to the radio, and did some writing. After lunch and a nap, I split all the wood I had brought down. I worked a little more on the woodcarving project and then did some more writing.

On Wednesday it was 13 degrees in the morning. I practiced the piano, listened to the radio, and did some reading. Robert called and said he might be over. After lunch and a nap, I spent the rest of the day reading.

On Thursday morning it was 15 degrees outside. I practiced the piano and then wheeled two more wheelbarrow loads of wood down from the woodshed. I listened to the radio and did a little more woodcarving planning.

After lunch and a nap, I got the finish panels out of the closet where they were stored to inventory them. They go on the backs and sides of the cabinets and it had been a low priority to install them. Now I had a look at what it would take to install them. I decided not to at this time and put them back in the closet.

I spent the rest of the day reading until an insurance guy called with a bunch of questions about the cabin.

On Friday morning the temperature outside was 10 degrees. I practiced the piano and listened to the radio. Then I replaced the hearth trim that I had removed prior to moving the stove years ago. Since the hearth had been enlarged by 16 inches, two extensions to the trim had to be made, so I cut those extensions. I took a couple of pictures of the installed trim with the extensions in place. I will varnish the extensions when I get the varnish out for the next door casings. I vacuumed the place, and then left for home at 12:30 after a very nice relaxing week.
