12/27-29/23 I went up to Camp Serendipity for three days: Wednesday through Friday.

I arrived at noon. There was 3 inches of new snow on the ground, and it had not been plowed, but I had no trouble parking anyway. I didn't shovel off the steps and carried up my gear up in two trips just walking over the new snow on the trails and the stairs. It was no problem.

I hoisted the flag and then had my lunch and a nap. Next, I practiced the piano and discovered how rusty I get after skipping practice for a few days.

On Thursday the temperature outside when I got up was 25 degrees. I practiced the piano and then went for a walk toward the grave. I noticed there was a car parked in the next driveway from ours, so I decided to go back to the cabin, get a business card, and then go back to the neighbor and introduce myself. When I got to the next-door neighbor's place, I saw that the car was gone, and I had missed my chance.

Back at the cabin I decided to see if I could stomp out a trail up the roadway in front of the cabin. It turned out that the snow was so stiff I could easily walk on top of it and break a trail, so I did. Then I walked the same trail back down the road to the truck. I'll try to maintain that trail throughout the winter if I can.

I listened to the radio and did some reading before I had my lunch and a nap. Then I practiced the piano some more. Robert called in the evening before I went to bed, and we had a short chat.

On Friday morning the temperature outside was 25 degrees and the weather was clear. I practiced the piano, listened to the radio and then went out for a walk toward the grave. This time I brought a business card with me, and the neighbors were home. I met Connie Smith who told me that her husband, Clint, was sleeping inside at the moment. She was outside playing in the snow with their three boys. We had a nice chat and then I returned to the cabin. I had a fairly big lunch, packed up my gear and left for home at about 1:00. I was happy I finally had met the new neighbors.
