Construction Journal Entry Week of 3/31/24

4/1-5/24 I went up to Camp Serendipity for five days: Monday through Friday.

The trip over was easy and I arrived at 11:45. I brought my gear up in two trips using the Trapper Nelson for the second one. I hoisted the flag, and then had my lunch and a nap. When I got up, I walked to the grave and then practiced the piano.

On Tuesday morning the temperature outside was 35 degrees when I got up. I practiced the piano and then walked to the grave. On the way back I met Larry Ann and Bodhi who were walking the other way.

I listened to the radio and then had my lunch. While I was eating, I looked out the front window and saw a fairly big animal, which I think was a mink or a Marten or a big weasel, cross the road and walk up on the property, over to the creek, and then disappear in the woods.

After my nap, I went outside and moved sheets of OSB and plywood over to the rack I had built to get them away from the block wall. This will give me access to face that wall with stones. In the process I disturbed a snake that lives among those boards.

While I was down at the truck getting some tools I talked to Nancy and told her I had seen the Marten or whatever. She got all energized because those animals have been terrorizing her chicken coop and she was glad to know that I had sighted one. She said she will be sure to tell Dave and they will do whatever they do to defend their chicken coop.

On Wednesday morning I practiced the piano and then walked to the grave. When I got back, I did some reading and then had my lunch and a nap. When I got up, Paula called, and we had a fairly long conversation. After we hung up, I went outside and built a continuation of the scaffold platform. It is now enough to begin working from and I took a picture of it.

On Thursday morning Dave called and we had an interesting conversation. Afterwards, I practiced the piano, listened to the radio, and then walked to the grave.

After lunch and a nap, I filled 5 water jugs and staged them in the utility room. Then I practiced the piano and did some reading. It began raining in the afternoon but not too hard.

On Friday morning I practiced the piano and then Bill called. We had an interesting conversation and when we hung up, I walked to the grave. When I got back, I began packing up to leave for home and I left at 12:30. It was another fun and productive week. I was happy that I felt stronger than usual.
