Construction Journal Entry Week of 11/28/21

11/29-12/2/21 I went up to Camp Serendipity for 4 days: Monday through Thursday.

I arrived at 12:30 on a warm, 53 degrees, sunny, beautiful day. The temperature inside the cabin was 68 degrees so there was no need to build a fire. There is good solar gain this time of year.

I brought some gear up in one trip, hoisted the flag, and then had my lunch. Afterward, I took the wheelbarrow down to the truck and hauled a bunch of yard waste over to the compost pile. Then I wheeled the rest of my gear up to the cabin and took a nap. When I got up, it had cooled down enough so that I started a fire in the stove to make sure it was cozy warm for my shower.

On Tuesday, the day started out rainy. I practiced the piano, listened to the radio for a while, and then called a couple of doctors' offices to schedule some appointments and to ask some questions.

After lunch and a nap, I spent some time writing and then went out and split a bunch of firewood.

On Wednesday it had been extra windy all night and the power went out at 5:45 just as I was getting up. I built a nice fire in the stove and at first light, I went out to hoist the flag. I got cell phone service by the flagpole so I called the PUD and learned that power was due to be restored at 9:00 AM. I decided against waiting and decided to cook my breakfast on the wood stove. I had just gotten a good start by 8:00 when the power came back on. I transfered my pots and pans to the kitchen range and finished cooking my breakfast the normal way using a regular toaster.

Next, I practiced the piano and vacuumed the first floor and the loft stairs. Then I had my lunch and a nap. When I got up, I spent some time writing. Then I went outside and had a look at Runty and Paul. I noticed that the deer's salt block had come loose from the tree so I put it back up. The weather was unusually warm but there was a noisy high wind up high in the trees.

On Thursday morning, I practiced the piano and then called Earl. He told me about his progress and troubles with his flight simulator. I explained some of my medical issues and that I had to leave that day to get home in time for an appointment on Friday. When we hung up, I called Robert and told him of my plans. He told me about his recent medical problems.

I left for home at 12:45 without getting a lot done this week. I am sort of pre-occupied with medical issues that I hope will be resolved soon and harmlessly.
