Log Home Pictures from 1993

The major project for 1993 was developing the spring as our water supply. Here you see the concrete slab poured over the gravel between the near-vertical rock at the lower left and the huge boulder at the upper right. You can see the sky reflected in the spring pool. The water flows to the creek to the left. The bottom of the wooden forms are directly above the pool. you can see three rebar stubs sticking up around the edge of the pool.

This is the concrete form resting upside down with the three 3-inch brass nipples installed. The water will flow through the lower of these as the concrete is placed and set. You can see the slab and pool just to the right of the forms.

The bipod was used to suspend the form over the pool so that the contour of the rock and concrete could be scribed and the form cut to fit snugly against it.

This is the finished springbox. The lid weighs 580 lb. so vandals can't easily remove it. You can see the overflow pipe sticking out to the right, the service pipe below it, and the curved channel in the concrete for the water to run into the creek.
