4/30/15 The job of installing the loft fascia boards was sort of unplanned. Nothing depends on doing it so it wasn't on the schedule. But when I bought the fascia board to repair the roof, I bought enough of the same material to complete the loft fascia. Since those boards were just lying around, I decided to delay my scheduled projects and install the fascia. After planing and varnishing the boards, I discovered that the one selected for the dining room was cupped at the miter joint end. I had clamped the board flat in order to saw the miter cut, and here in this picture you can see the elaborate clamping arrangement I used to flatten the board prior to fastening it to the rim joist and to the mating fascia board. The clamp held it nice and flat.

4/30/15 Here you see the first two loft fascia boards installed with a nice fitting miter joint between them.

4/30/15 This is the view of the fascia from the dining room.

4/30/15 This is the view of the fascia (among other features) from the front entry doorway.

5/14/15 Here you see the pattern in the fascia continue around the corner because the two boards were cut from the same big board. Nice effect.

5/14/15 Because the board was cut too long the first time, there wasn't quite enough for this second board to reach snugly against the log wall. Those gaps are the result.

5/14/15 Here you see the patch in the corner that makes up for the left hand board being cut too short because of my failure to take the miter cut into account.

5/14/15 Here's a view of the corner of the fascia at the top of the stairs.

5/29/15 Here's a view of the corner of the fascia at the top of the stairs with the last board in place.
