Paul is really and truly drawknifing a log.

No kidding. For this particular log, drawknifing by hand was easier than gwizzing.

This log is scribed for flattening to make a purlin.

The Grid D purlin in its final place. You can see its flattened surface.

It's a long way up there to that purlin in the sky. The Grid D purlin is the highest, nearly horizontal, log spanning the entire picture. It is a full floor higher than the two loft beam logs that are seen slanting down. (One is coming diagonally down from the upper left corner of the picture and the other is slanting down from near the center at the top.) The steel scaffold tower is there to provide access to spike the purlin into the PSL. You can see the crane boom way above all of it.
